Wellness Pop-Up Event at Kalmus

Future retirees Louis Mazzarrini and Carl Fong ask Medicare questions.

The Wellness Pop-Up Event was held at Kalmus in Building A on April 2.

This event, presented by Human Resources, gave staff an opportunity to access information, ask questions, receive knowledgeable answers and enter the wellness drawing.

Staff were able to meet with representatives from American Fidelity, Blue Shield of California, Hoag Medical Group, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and SoCal Benefits Insurance Services.

Bernadette Pagliuca consults with American Fidelity.

American Fidelity offered guidance in choosing supplemental insurance products including accident, critical illness and cancer insurance.

Blue Shield of California had information on a variety of topics including staying fit while you sit, shaking the salt habit and avoiding the flu.

Maria Solorzano receives information from BlueShield of California.

Hoag was able to help with personalized care, specialty institutes and urgent care locations. Representatives additionally offered guidance on achieving quality sleep, suggestions for staying active while seated and healthier snack alternatives.

SchoolsFirst supported our financial health. Representatives from the credit union were able to give money management advice on topics including loan payments and tax-sheltered retirement accounts.

HR Employees Shardae Jackson, Shelly Durieux and Arlene Salazar

The goal of SoCal Benefits Insurance Service is to take the confusion out of Medicare. One could learn about Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements and Plan D Prescription Plans. Questions were asked by those getting close to retirement as well as by those helping their parents make Medicare choices.

A big thank you to our wellness vendors and to everyone who attended the Kalmus pop-up event.
