Wellness Wednesday

Bernadette Pagliuca is ready for her DermaScan.

Wellness Wednesday, presented by Human Resources, on Wednesday, April 24, featured representatives from Blue Shield of California and MemorialCare Medical Group, animals from Inside the Outdoors, and a puppy cuddle corner.

Everything, except for the puppy cuddle corner, was held in Building A. The puppy cuddle corner was held outdoors in the Kalmus Quad.

Blue Shield of California was the place to go for quick medical plan questions. They also had information on a variety of health-related topics.

MemorialCare Medical Group had a representative on hand, along with a complimentary DermaScan — a dermatology test providing high-resolution ultrasound images of the skin and underlying soft tissue, used for screening facial skin damage.

The Inside the Outdoors Harmony in Nature’s Wellness exhibit featured Kevin Owlexander the Great Horned Owl, and his friends. His friends included a Harlow, a California desert tortoise; Issac, a Pacific gopher snake; Millie the millipede, and Ker-ploop, a white tree frog. When he isn’t out and about, Ker-ploop goes home to his wife, Hopscotch. The home of Ker-ploop and the other Inside the Outdoors animals is at the Esplanade building.

As expected, the puppy cuddle corner was a big hit. Staff delightedly crowded around the playful puppies. With all their energy and constant movement, they were hard to count. The puppies had food names. Among them were Pancake, Bacon, Egg, Avocado and Taco.

A big thank you to Inside the Outdoors and our other wellness vendors and to everyone who attended Wellness Wednesday.
